Two words to describe my experience at the Mercure Hotel Lovely and Beautiful. The are always clean and well presented. The stuff are the best , they will go out of their way to make you welcomed and feel at home. I'm diabetic so I need my medicine to be in a fridge, so what they did is they put a fridge in my room . Can't thank them enough for this . So if you want to experience the complete hotel package, come over to the Mercure Hotel Wigan
This hotel is the most I'd really expect for an inner city hotel. You can tell straight away that it wasn't designed to wow. The rooms are a good size, very clean, warm but well ventilated. The bed was very comfy and everything worked. Loved having a bath, many hotels are sticking to showers and its a shame. The staff were very polite and helpful. A bit of investment could make the site a lot more attractive.

Typical Premier Inn, clean and tidy and very, very comfortable. Breakfast was a splendid affair, we forced ourselves to have three courses then couldn't eat for the rest of the day. Don't worry about the lack of car park, there's a big pay and display attached at the rear of the hotel which cost us £3 for 24 hours. Staff very helpful and friendly. Bar in the hotel was a great bonus too. I would not hesitate to recommend this place or stay again.
Everyone was fantastic, cheerful and helpful staff. Kath in the dining room was a real Wigan girl, bubbly and friendly, and like "the girl next door" - she was amazing. All the staff made us very comfortable, and as with Premier in Hull North, everything was exceptional.

Good little drinking hole with nice staff
I was there for a 50th birthday party. There were about 80 guests which fitted well in the function room. Service was friendly and quick at the bar and the buffet was excellent

Really nice food. Not the cheapest but well worth the price. Full marks to the staff. Helpful and pleasant. Clean and tidy place. Another one to add to your list of feeding holes.
I'm reluctant to give this pub a good report because it is already very popular and I may not be able to get a table if too many people find out just how good it is. The food is fantastic and the menu varied. A fantastic atmosphere and great staff. We travel a distance to enjoy an evening there. If you are dining a reservation is recommended. I don't think you will be disappointed.

They saved us here. We we're on a tight schedule and had to finish in Wigan then get to the Lizard in Cornwall. They sorted a meal in moments, and it was delicious. Thank you team Revolution. Great job
Good food and cocktails. Atmosphere is always good. Perfect place to start the night or just for dinner. Make sure to get a revs card for discounts on food and drinks

Not good for a family and they specifically say no groups. Also have a 1 am curfew. But if, like me, you are travelling for work and just want a bed and something to eat this place beats Tavelodge, Premier Inn etc. in every department, including price. Only saw one staff member and she seemed to do everything from checking me in to cooking my dinner and breakfast. Both meals cooked to order so took a while to arrive: especially dinner, which was so massive I couldn't finish it. Single room basic but adequate.

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!
